About the role
- Medical Billing Specialist processing medical claims and remittance discrepancies for Petal, a Canadian healthcare orchestration and billing company. Supporting accurate physician compensation through billing and reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Enter and review medical billing claims with accuracy and efficiency
- Apply diagnostic and procedure codes while ensuring compliance with billing guidelines
- Process electronic and paper claim submissions
- Review remittance advice to identify discrepancies, denials, or missing information
- Make corrections or adjustments to claims when required
- Support claim reconciliation activities to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation within billing systems
- Take on additional responsibilities related to claim follow-up and reconciliation as experience is gained
Requirements
- Can manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable using computer tools and systems
- Works independently with a high level of organization and accountability
- Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
- Experience in the medical field, medical transcription, or medical administration is an asset
- Authorization to work in Canada
