About the role
- Estimator preparing aluminum railing bids and proposals for construction projects in Toronto’s GTA. Supporting sales leads, client relationships, showroom tours, and occasional site visits.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements to prepare accurate estimates for aluminum railing projects
- Perform material quantity take-offs and cost calculations
- Prepare and submit detailed quotations and proposals to clients, contractors, and builders
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain pricing for materials and services
- Evaluate project scope, timelines, and installation requirements
- Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings or training as required
- Prequalify potential clients to establish budget, timelines, and compatibility
- Prepare quotations and site installation meetings as required
- Assist project managers with change orders
- Manage client expectations by informing them of company processes, policies, and timelines
- Update clients on business changes such as product offerings, pricing, or assembly options
- Find new opportunities aligned with corporate strategy and identify sales leads
- Maintain relationships with current and new contacts
- Support production, installation, and client inquiries as needed
- Work closely with Sales, design, and production departments
- Host showroom tours and qualification visits; conduct some site visits as required
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in the construction industry, preferably with within aluminum railings/ miscellaneous steel/ornamental steel
- Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Building Connect and Procore
- Knowledge of Division 05 (Metals) specifications and architectural metal products
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Ability to conduct occasional site visits as required
- Reliability, integrity, passion and in-person presentation skills with a strong ability to establish relationships and close deals
- Exceptional, industry leading, customer service skills with a proven strength in exceeding client expectations and an ability to identify best product and fit for client needs
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Must be flexible with work hours
