About the role
- Senior Financial Analyst partnering with engineering teams at Samsara, a connected-operations IoT platform company. Managing R&D spend, forecasting, reporting, AI costs, and financial planning.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Software and Firmware Engineering leaders to manage headcount, software, and AI vendor spend
- Analyze financial results and prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting
- Support financial review meetings with R&D and Finance leadership
- Partner with Accounting on month-end close activities, cost classification, and reporting requests
- Collaborate with R&D teams to drive AOP planning
- Improve the accuracy and scalability of financial reporting and forecasting models
- Develop mechanisms, analyses, and KPIs to inspect business performance
- Use AI tools to streamline financial reporting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis workflows
- Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales globally
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, Big 4 Accounting, or Investment Banking
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills
- Experience at a high-growth tech company
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Comfortable presenting to senior management
- Proactive, highly organized self-starter able to work independently under tight deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with Headcount and SaaS cost modeling and management
- Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Glean, and Cursor
- Proficiency with Databricks
- Proficiency with FP&A tools such as Workday Adaptive Planning or similar planning systems and NetSuite
- Prior partnership with software engineering teams
