About the role

  • Nova Scotia government Education Officer advancing French Second Language programs across Grades P–12. Designing curricula, educator learning, assessments, and inclusive French-language resources.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives for the public school system
  • Provide consultative services to Regional Centres for Education, professional staff, universities, associations, organizations, departments, and agencies
  • Advance French Second Language education initiatives across Grades P–12
  • Coordinate and collaborate on curriculum renewal and resource development
  • Design and deliver research-based professional learning for educators
  • Partner with department branches to enhance programming and virtual learning opportunities
  • Contribute to assessment strategies that promote student achievement
  • Create research-informed resources supporting planning, instruction, and evaluation
  • Facilitate mentorship programs and professional networks for FSL educators
  • Promote equitable access to inclusive resources and cultural experiences reflecting Nova Scotia’s diversity
  • Provide French-language resources for pre-primary classrooms
  • Report to the Director of French Second Language Programs

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field
  • At least 8 years’ teaching experience in a French Second Language context
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current French Second Language programs and education system structures
  • Strong understanding of the Nova Scotia context
  • Ability to apply current research to project design, content, and implementation
  • Ability to plan, manage, and deliver projects within timelines while coordinating multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proven collaboration skills and ability to build and maintain effective partnerships
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French
  • Strong competencies in English
  • Proficiency with technology and/or Microsoft Office programs in a computerized environment for communication and instruction
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork skills and commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Successful background checks and confirmation of credentials
  • Bilingual French and English capabilities
