About the role
- Senior Full Stack Developer building lending technology for Scratch, a fintech financing veterinary care. Developing Node.js, TypeScript, React, APIs, payment systems, and risk-assessment solutions.
Responsibilities
- Architect, discuss, design, and implement systems within the Scratch ecosystem, including application processes, risk assessments, payment processing, public-facing APIs, and event-based integrations
- Write clean, maintainable code across backend services and frontend components supporting the lending business and third-party integrations
- Improve overall quality and test coverage through end-to-end testing
- Grow and improve Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, code reviews, and agile team collaboration
- Surface potential blockers and architectural issues
- Own incident response and debugging for personal code and shared services
- Participate in post-mortem reviews
- Stay current on best practices and industry trends
- Translate product requirements into implementation plans and working code
- Leverage automated test coverage and AI-assisted development
Requirements
- Available to work from UTC-3 to UTC-8 timezones
- Fluency in English is required
- 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Strong backend skills using Node.js and TypeScript
- Experience developing RESTful APIs
- Frontend experience using React
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Practical knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firestore, and Redis
- Experience working in domain-based monorepos with independently deployable backend services
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure best practices
- Ability to switch between languages and frameworks
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum processes
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills, clear communication, and proactive initiative
- Nice to have: Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Docker
- Nice to have: PHP and/or Golang
- Nice to have: risk modeling and underwriting experience
