About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review structural concepts, 3D models, assemblies, installation drawings, and detail drawings for assigned aircraft areas
  • Define metallic and composite parts, joints, interfaces, fastening concepts, tolerances, and provisions
  • Apply design best practices related to load paths, manufacturability, assembly, inspection, maintainability, weight, and cost
  • Coordinate structural definition with loads and stress, materials and processes, systems installation, aerodynamics, interiors, manufacturing, and quality teams
  • Resolve geometric and physical interface conflicts and support technical trade studies
  • Participate in design reviews and communicate design intent, assumptions, constraints, and open issues
  • Support substantiation and certification activities with complete, traceable design definition
  • Support investigations in production, at suppliers, and in service, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Manage design changes and maintain configuration and product-definition data within the PLM environment
  • Lead complex design activities involving multiple areas or systems
  • Review and approve significant technical solutions within delegated authority and lead challenging investigations
  • Mentor engineers, influence decisions without direct authority, and improve standards, methods, and digital practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or another relevant engineering discipline
  • Typically 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in aeronautical/aerospace engineering
  • Knowledge of aircraft structural configuration and detailed design
  • Proficiency in metallic and composite design principles, joints, fasteners, tolerancing, and GD&T
  • Experience with technical drawings, 3D definition, manufacturability, assembly, and inspection
  • Knowledge of materials, processes, aerospace design standards, certification principles, and configuration management
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and MS Office
  • Knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset
  • Practical knowledge of PLM, product definition, engineering change, and configuration management processes
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative approach with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Sound judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and accountability
  • Ability to coordinate priorities and provide constructive technical guidance
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and act as a mentor
  • Fluency in English is required
  • French is an asset
