About the role
- Junior Software Developer building Java microservices and REST APIs for Solace Cloud's event broker control plane. Supporting React operations tooling, Kubernetes deployments, observability, and AI-native development.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve backend features in Java microservices
- Develop REST APIs for broker service lifecycle, certificate management, DNS, and broker configuration
- Contribute to the operations console front-end using React micro-frontends
- Deploy and operate event brokers in customer-managed Docker/Kubernetes environments
- Investigate production issues using Datadog logs, metrics, and monitors, from diagnosis through verified fix
- Write automated tests and contribute to epic-level quality plans
- Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code daily and contribute reusable AI workflows
- Collaborate with product, platform engineering, and support teams to resolve customer field issues
Requirements
- A solid foundation in Java (or a similar language) and willingness to work across the stack — backend, front-end, and pipelines
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, relational databases, and automated testing
- Curiosity about cloud infrastructure: containers, Kubernetes, and public cloud services
- Experience using AI technologies and coding-assisted tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Codex
- A quality-focused mindset that advocates on behalf of the end user
- Strong communication — ability to explain what failed, why, and what the plan is
- Nice to have: experience with messaging systems (Solace, Kafka, RabbitMQ) or event-driven architecture
- Nice to have: exposure to Kubernetes, Helm, or Docker-based deployment
- Nice to have: TypeScript/React experience
- Nice to have: familiarity with observability platforms (Datadog, Grafana, etc.)
- Nice to have: experience with CI/CD pipelines
