About the role
- Junior Software Engineer building C/C++ persistence systems for Solace’s event-driven integration platform. Improving message storage, reliability, scalability, and delivery in the Event Broker.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve the persistence layer of the Solace Event Broker
- Work with senior engineers on the Message Spool team
- Build new features for the message spool subsystem
- Develop using C and C++ on Linux
- Work with multithreading and storage systems
- Use Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code review, and AI coding assistants
- Write code, test, and debug using AI tools such as Claude Code
- Analyze performance and debug complex systems
- Improve system reliability and scalability
Requirements
- Quick to learn and comfortable using AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, or excited to start using them
- Independent problem-solving ability
- Care for craftsmanship and honesty about knowledge and limitations
- Ability to work well with a team
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field
- Solid foundation in C or C++
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to participate in code reviews and work in an Agile team
