About the role
- Senior Software Developer building C++ routing, bridging, and failover systems for Solace’s enterprise AI data platform. Developing distributed, real-time messaging infrastructure on Linux.
Responsibilities
- Build features for the message-routing engine, bridges, and high-availability failover mechanisms in modern C++ on Linux
- Solve challenges involving network topology, subscription propagation, split-brain avoidance, and disaster recovery
- Participate in requirements, design, implementation, testing, bug fixing, and release using agile practices
- Write and maintain unit tests alongside code changes
- Develop end-to-end tests covering high-availability and network deployments
- Expand and refine custom internal agents, tools, and workflows
- Partner with adjacent squads to align architectural dependencies across the broader product platform
- Take early ownership of complex, high-impact features across routing, bridging, and failover systems
Requirements
- Four or more years of professional software development experience
- Strong C++ on Linux
- Solid analytical and object-oriented design skills
- Working knowledge of multithreaded programming, including threads and synchronization
- Exposure to networked or distributed systems
- Experience building event-driven architectures and real-time streaming platforms
- Practical professional experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor
- Ability to deliver production-quality software backed by automated tests
- Comfort with debugging and profiling tools such as gdb, perf, tcpdump, strace, or valgrind
- Resourceful and self-directed problem solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field
- Experience with messaging or streaming infrastructure such as Solace PubSub+, Kafka, MQTT, or AMQP is desirable
- Familiarity with routing protocols such as OSPF or BGP, or distributed consensus systems such as Raft, Paxos, or quorums is desirable
- Familiarity with Linux system programming interfaces and GNU libraries is desirable
- Background in performance analysis, profiling, and low-latency tuning is desirable
- Experience building custom AI tooling, scripts, or extensions is desirable
