About the role
- Staff Software Engineer building Solink’s video-security web, mobile, and API applications. Setting technical direction, improving reliability, and mentoring engineers across Core Applications.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve features across React/TypeScript web and React Native/Expo mobile applications
- Own features end-to-end from design through delivery
- Collaborate with product and design
- Design and implement APIs, write tests, ship code, and monitor production
- Drive architecture and technical direction across web, mobile, and API layers
- Document key technical decisions
- Improve application stability, performance, and user experience
- Design and build NestJS/TypeScript APIs
- Use AI tools for coding, debugging, code review, and research
- Conduct code reviews, refactoring, and knowledge sharing
- Triage and resolve bugs
- Collaborate strategically on architecture, tooling, and application patterns
- Mentor engineers and cross-functional partners
- Lead projects end-to-end and keep stakeholders informed
- Build frameworks, standards, and tooling that scale team effectiveness
Requirements
- Strong production TypeScript and React experience, ideally with long tenure on a single mature product
- Full-stack ownership, including REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Redis, and tracing issues across the stack
- Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end system architecture across web, mobile, and API platforms
- Experience establishing documentation practices that scale technical decision-making across teams
- Track record working on a mature, customer-facing product trusted by thousands of customers
- Active use of AI tools to accelerate work
- Solid understanding of REST APIs and frontend/backend interaction
- Awareness of performance trade-offs in web and mobile contexts
- Ability to trace bugs across UI, API, and database layers
- Product judgment and ability to partner with product and design
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and handle ambiguity
- Hands-on React Native experience is nice to have
- Experience with video streaming, security camera systems, or POS/retail technology is nice to have
- Familiarity with automated testing using Jest, Detox, Playwright, or similar is nice to have
- Exposure to mobile CI/CD and App Store/Play Store release pipelines is nice to have
- Experience building or integrating AI-powered features and LLM capabilities is nice to have
- NestJS or other Node.js backend framework experience is nice to have
- Criminal records check upon hire
- Canadian citizenship, including dual citizenship, or eligibility to work in Canada
