About the role

  • Bridge Engineering Intern (EIT) supporting transportation projects under a Professional Engineer’s guidance. Collaborating with teams on inspections, design plans, and engineering calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the structural engineering portion of various highway, transit, and rail projects through all phases from proposal preparation, project kick-off, preliminary design, detailed design, tendering, construction, and contract administration
  • Assist with development of design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Prepare, check and deliver engineering calculations, reports and technical studies
  • Regular collaboration with other transportation design professionals and teams to complete projects
  • Undertake culvert and bridge inspections to assess condition

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering design concepts
  • Experience with structural modeling and design software, such as CSiBridge or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of CAD software and collaborative tools such as Autodesk or BlueBeam
  • Basic knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and MTO design manuals and standards
  • Familiarity with MTO design requirements and specifications is an asset
  • Effective communication skills, including experience in report and proposal preparation
  • Experience in structural inspection, condition surveys, and construction supervision is an asset
  • University degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in the field of structural design
  • 0 – 4 years of related work experience. Previous bridge-related work experience is an asset
  • Registered or working toward Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T)
