Bridge Engineering Intern (EIT) supporting transportation projects under a Professional Engineer’s guidance. Collaborating with teams on inspections, design plans, and engineering calculations.
Responsibilities
Execute the structural engineering portion of various highway, transit, and rail projects through all phases from proposal preparation, project kick-off, preliminary design, detailed design, tendering, construction, and contract administration
Assist with development of design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates
Prepare, check and deliver engineering calculations, reports and technical studies
Regular collaboration with other transportation design professionals and teams to complete projects
Undertake culvert and bridge inspections to assess condition
Requirements
Strong understanding of structural engineering design concepts
Experience with structural modeling and design software, such as CSiBridge or equivalent
Working knowledge of CAD software and collaborative tools such as Autodesk or BlueBeam
Basic knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and MTO design manuals and standards
Familiarity with MTO design requirements and specifications is an asset
Effective communication skills, including experience in report and proposal preparation
Experience in structural inspection, condition surveys, and construction supervision is an asset
University degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in the field of structural design
0 – 4 years of related work experience. Previous bridge-related work experience is an asset
Registered or working toward Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T)
