About the role

  • Business Center Practice Leader driving growth in Stantec's Energy & Resources group. Leading strategic initiatives and client engagements in the mining sector across Canada East.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the WIN team to drive growth of E&R and the region by supporting business development activities, key pursuits, and MB&D strategy.
  • Engage with our Sector Leaders and Account Managers, to expand the BC’s reach and client base using strong marketing, business development, and account management plans.
  • Increase the visibility of Stantec, to enhance our reputation and drive revenue, by sharing our knowledge and innovation story at key client engagements.
  • Actively participate in the Go/No Go review process, contribute to win strategies and successful project execution through hands-on involvement in key pursuits, client management and project management.
  • Lead the annual marketing and business development (M&BD) plan for the BC and help manage the marketing spend.
  • Actively contributes to win strategies and successful project execution and becomes involved at a hands-on level in key pursuits as needed and on projects should issues impacting client satisfaction or project management best practices escalate and tracks pursuit success rate and Return on Investment rate on client-by-client basis.
  • Leads growth through developing and leading the business development, key pursuit and sales strategy and holds team members accountable to expand our reach and client base.
  • Partners with other leadership to drive collaboration on pursuits across geographies and business lines.
  • Responsible for utilizing and ensuring the opportunity Pipeline is maintained, including Opportunity forecasting.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec’s high performance culture with a focus on talent, quality, innovation, productivity, excellence, and business performance in pursuits.
  • Inspire, motivate, and hold the team accountable for the delivery of innovative design solutions throughout the pursuit stage.
  • Act as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and a source of counsel and advice for the BC.
  • Represents the BC through public speaking engagements and attendance at industry and community events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders in other BCs and BOUs to foster collaboration, grow new expertise, increase work share opportunities, and drive growth.
  • Actively participate in projects, to build strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, maintain a personal utilization of 40%.
  • Oversee risk management related to projects and pursuits including review of contracts, fees and proposals on large pursuits and in coordination with the Business Operating Unit Risk Committee.
  • Collaborate with the Business Center Operations Leader (BCOL) in developing, attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent while supporting the overall talent management lifecycle.
  • Establish employee connectedness to leadership by interfacing frequently with employees and by conducting BC-wide meetings to communicate the vision, business strategy and progress against applicable action plans with the BCOL.
  • Support the BCOL in meeting established targets net revenue, gross margin, overhead, and operating income in the BC.
  • Develops, attracts, engages and retains top talent with the support of the BCOL.
  • Support the overall talent management lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development for the Business Centre.
  • Support the BCOL with the health and safety performance of the team, throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership on key projects and experience with delivering project excellence.
  • Strong seller-doer capable of generating work and creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients for Stantec.
  • Highly collaborative and driven to form internal partnerships.
  • Bilingual in English and French with excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of market assessment techniques, insights, and contacts.
  • An entrepreneurial orientation with a strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting services provider.
  • Professional Degree and registration preferred in your field of practice, as applicable.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience within the mining sector in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada markets, including 10 years of direct involvement in or managing pursuits/proposals for delivery of engineering design and/or construction services.
  • Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, Statement of Qualifications.
  • Experience in Heavy Industrial Processes and Oil & Gas sectors is an asset.
