About the role

  • Student Business Process Analyst supporting Sun Life’s financial-services data governance, compliance, and quality processes. Mapping workflows, enabling automation, and driving Lean improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and improvement of enterprise data governance processes
  • Document, analyze, and optimize regulatory data compliance, metadata lifecycle management, and data quality assessment and issue-remediation workflows
  • Collaborate with data stewards, compliance officers, IT, and business units to gather requirements and map current- and future-state processes
  • Support automation of manual tasks through workflow tools and automation platforms
  • Contribute to process documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides
  • Participate in continuous improvement using Lean process design
  • Monitor key data governance KPIs and recommend data-driven improvements
  • Research and evaluate processes against data governance regulations, frameworks, and industry standards

Requirements

  • Student or new graduate candidate for the Winter 2027 campus program
  • Foundational understanding of or interest in data governance principles, including metadata, data quality, and data ownership
  • Interest in or coursework involving regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, OSFI E-21, OSFI E-23, HIPA, or SOX
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Exposure to process modeling tools such as Visio or Lucidchart is a plus
  • Familiarity with Collibra Data Governance and Informatica Data Quality tools, or willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SQL or data analysis tools is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mindset for efficiency, simplification, and continuous improvement
  • Adaptability, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to operate in a matrix environment
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across teams, departments, and divisions
  • Ability to gather information using approaches applicable to the situation
  • Ability to prepare and clearly present information and transfer knowledge effectively
  • Ownership of assigned project deliverables and ability to plan activities for delivery by agreed-upon due dates
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely and present data and statistics in formats suited to audience needs
