About the role
- Senior Risk Business Analyst translating business, data, and compliance needs into Agile solutions for Sun Life’s corporate risk operations. Supporting risk management, analytics, automation, and Product Owner delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate requirements discovery sessions with stakeholders
- Elicit, analyze, validate, and communicate business, functional, non-functional, data, reporting, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with the Product Owner to define, refine, and prioritize Agile backlog items
- Support Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
- Apply user story mapping, personas, process mapping, estimation, and prioritization techniques
- Translate business needs into data attributes, source-to-target mapping considerations, reporting needs, and data quality requirements
- Analyze business processes, systems, data flows, and operational pain points to identify improvement, automation, and innovation opportunities
- Develop recommendations for complex business challenges while balancing risk, compliance, stakeholder impact, feasibility, and delivery capacity
- Partner with business users, vendors, technology partners, and leadership to plan, implement, test, roll out, and support applications and processes
- Review or develop designs, test strategies, test plans, user documentation, training materials, and rollout plans
- Triage business requests, gather estimates, maintain delivery priorities, and support work-allocation huddles
- Identify gaps, risks, interdependencies, and decision points; document mitigations and escalate issues
- Maintain and organize the delivery backlog in JIRA or equivalent tooling
- Write, review, and interpret epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, data requirements, and implementation notes
- Prepare roadmap and status summaries covering progress, risks, blockers, decisions, and priorities
- Facilitate alignment between the Product Owner, stakeholders, and delivery teams
- Create and update JIRA automation rules and AI agents
- Monitor budget and expense performance and report variances
- Support risk assessments, risk-based testing, control documentation, and operational readiness
- Work with data and technology partners on data lineage, database concepts, mapping, validation, and data quality
- Contribute to data transformation, reporting, dashboarding, analytics, and digital solution initiatives
Requirements
- Experience in third-party risk management, technology and cyber risk management, Archer, ServiceNow, risk operations, operational risk, control management, or related enterprise risk
- Experience with data visualization, analytics, reporting, dashboard development, data lakes, data warehouses, source-to-target mapping, SQL, or data validation
- BA, BSA, BSC, CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe training or certification, or demonstrated practical experience with these concepts
- Experience supporting AI, automation, workflow, digital transformation, or process optimization initiatives
- Experience with customer communication, stakeholder management, matrix organizations, vendors, and multi-site virtual teams
- Ability to combine business analysis expertise, technical acumen, risk awareness, and diplomatic facilitation
- Knowledge of risk management, regulatory expectations, and operational controls
- Technical fluency to collaborate effectively with IT partners
