About the role
- Senior Software Engineer evolving Sun Life’s agentic quality engineering platform. Building AI-assisted testing, developer tooling, APIs, and engineering automation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions supporting the agentic QE orchestration tool.
- Build and enhance AI-enabled capabilities that improve engineering productivity and quality outcomes.
- Design and implement agentic workflows involving testing, automation, and software delivery processes.
- Develop integrations between AI agents, engineering tools, testing frameworks, and platform services.
- Contribute to AI-assisted testing capabilities and engineering automation solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify platform improvements and innovation opportunities.
- Develop APIs, services, and applications using modern software engineering practices.
- Participate in technical design discussions and improve platform architecture and engineering outcomes.
- Contribute to platform standards, reusable components, and engineering best practices.
- Support experimentation and proof-of-concept activities involving emerging technologies and AI-enabled solutions.
- Use Agile delivery practices and continuous feedback to iteratively improve platform capabilities.
- Share knowledge, collaborate with peers, and foster technical growth across the team.
- Support platform users through troubleshooting, technical consultation, and enablement activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting software solutions within Agile delivery environments.
- Experience designing, building, integrating, or supporting AI agents, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled software solutions.
- Experience building developer tooling or integrations leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), including IDE extensions, Model Context Protocol (MCP), tool-calling APIs, and prompt/context engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.
- Experience designing and developing APIs, services, integrations, and automation solutions.
- Working knowledge of modern test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Bruno/REST, PyETL, JUnit, Jest, pytest, or xUnit.
- Experience with source control, branching strategies, and modern software delivery practices using Git-based workflows.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and modern data modelling principles.
- Experience working with cloud platforms and modern application deployment patterns; AWS experience is particularly relevant.
- Familiarity with Docker and container-based development environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Preferred: experience applying AI and agentic capabilities within testing, quality engineering, or software delivery workflows.
- Preferred: familiarity with agent governance, evaluation frameworks, observability, and responsible AI practices.
- Preferred: experience with workflow automation, engineering productivity platforms, and developer enablement tooling.
- Preferred: experience supporting technology adoption through communities of practice, onboarding, coaching, or enablement activities.
