About the role

  • Associate Software Engineer developing and supporting banking applications, components, and tools at TD. Collaborating on engineering solutions, testing, incident management, and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new components, small features, and small tools for engineering programs and projects
  • Support business enquiries and activities through small enhancements and break/fix implementations
  • Work with technology partners to ensure configurations and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals
  • Analyze technical requirements and recommend pragmatic engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and internal technology partners to meet technical direction, requirements, performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals
  • Monitor product lifecycles and undertake redevelopment where required
  • Document and verify system components, applications, infrastructure, security, integrations, operability, and architecture designs
  • Participate in quality management reviews of designs, prototypes, and requirements work products
  • Establish as-built program activities using configuration management processes
  • Create and maintain quality code; perform code maintenance and support during testing cycles
  • Provide technical expertise during incident management, analyze incident reports and outages, assess impact, and facilitate communications during resolution
  • Identify and recommend development and testing solutions and tools
  • Identify and document technical decisions, risks, and lessons learned
  • Deliver solutions on time, within budget, and according to development and quality standards
  • Collaborate with development teams to define and validate user stories, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done/ready
  • Identify and resolve product-quality issues with the team and leadership
  • Participate in knowledge transfer, cross-training, mentoring, and team development activities

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, Postgraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Strong academic background, e.g. computer science or engineering
  • Basic working knowledge of specific domain or engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures
  • Foundational knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices, business/organization, and Bank standards
  • Ability to execute, adapt, integrate, code, test, and debug programs
  • Knowledge of standard security coding practices
  • Knowledge of technical requirements analysis, engineering solutions, configuration management, incident management, and quality management
  • Ability to work with user stories, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done/ready
  • Ability to comply with internal policies, procedures, regulatory guidelines, security coding practices, and technology delivery standards
