About the role

  • Engineer I automating application, platform, and infrastructure releases for TD, a leading North American bank. Driving engineering tools, best practices, and emerging technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver tools, processes and documentation needed to provision, manage and support technologies across the organization
  • Execute engineering strategy for automating build, test, release and configuration activities across applications, platforms and infrastructure
  • Partner with Operations to integrate tools and processes into automated and self-service releases
  • Identify and leverage synergies across Technology areas based on business needs
  • Lead innovation and change for managed programs and services
  • Implement engineering and management best practices with other teams
  • Work with vendor platform providers and engineering peers to monitor industry trends, products, frameworks and applications
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and enterprise impacts
  • Interpret client needs and identify solutions to non-standard engineering requests
  • Apply best practices to improve products and services
  • Monitor and control costs
  • Provide subject matter expertise to governance, risk, compliance and audit groups
  • Contribute to third-party contract and agreement negotiations
  • Identify emerging technologies and innovative platform solutions
  • Maintain expertise in emerging trends, technologies and best practices
  • Prioritize workload and deliver quality results on schedule
  • Support a positive, innovative and collaborative work environment
  • Participate in knowledge transfer with management, technical teams and business units
  • Support team members in achieving business objectives and providing client services
  • Recommend productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency improvements
  • Generally report to a Manager or above

Requirements

  • University or post-graduate degree
  • Strong academic background, e.g., computer science or engineering
  • 5–7 years relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of specific engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices and Bank standards
  • Advanced experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Ability to act as a subject matter expert for less experienced colleagues
  • Ability to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions
