About the role

  • Physical risk manager developing flood, wildfire, hurricane, and heat-risk measurement for TD, a major North American bank. Translating climate hazards into portfolio, credit-risk, stress-testing, and regulatory metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop physical risk methodologies for acute and chronic hazards including flood, wildfire, hurricane, and extreme heat
  • Conduct portfolio-level physical risk analyses across climate scenarios and time horizons
  • Translate physical risk impacts into financial and credit risk measures including collateral value, PD, LGD, and ECL
  • Integrate and evaluate third-party climate and catastrophe models
  • Develop scalable analytical workflows and data pipelines
  • Produce analysis and reporting for risk management, business, senior management, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Prepare and maintain model documentation, methodology papers, controls, and supporting evidence
  • Support independent model validation through sensitivity testing and remediation of findings
  • Contribute to climate risk regulatory reporting and remediation, including OSFI Guideline B-15 activities
  • Coordinate delivery across credit risk, model validation, ESG, technology, data, and business teams
  • Provide technical guidance to analysts and partners
  • Support the continued development of TD’s physical risk measurement capabilities

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline and at least three years of related professional experience, or bachelor’s degree and at least five years of related professional experience
  • Relevant discipline such as catastrophe modelling, climate science, engineering, actuarial science, statistics, economics, finance, data science, or a closely related field
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SAS, or similar programming languages
  • Experience with geospatial analysis, large datasets, and quantitative model development
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project delivery skills
  • Experience with catastrophe or physical climate risk models is preferred
  • Knowledge of credit risk, stress testing, expected credit loss, or capital assessment is preferred
  • Experience integrating, benchmarking, or validating third-party climate models is preferred
  • Familiarity with climate scenarios, Databricks, Power BI, and model governance is preferred
  • Knowledge of OSFI Guideline B-15 or related climate risk regulations is preferred
