About the role
- Performance Engineering Lead optimizing TD Bank’s large-scale banking infrastructure. Leading performance testing, automation, scalability initiatives, and engineering mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Strategize and lead testing of TD Bank's production-like infrastructure, focusing on automation and scale
- Promote and apply best practices for performance testing of scalable and reliable services across engineering
- Act as a subject matter expert and partner with engineering teams on performance and scale
- Drive initiatives to evolve performance frameworks, tools, and processes in line with best practices and scalability needs
- Participate in root cause analysis for performance-related incidents and identify preventative measures
- Identify performance bottlenecks and create repeatable processes
- Advocate for performance testing and advise on performance tools and frameworks
- Participate in defining technical vision and architecture with performance in mind
- Communicate and collaborate across levels, functions, and organizational boundaries
- Mentor and coach junior engineers
- Work on proof-of-concept initiatives when needed
- Apply domain knowledge to new product requests and collaborate with architects inside and outside the company
Requirements
- Track record of leading successful large scale Infrastructure projects
- 6+ years of leading performance test engineering
- 5+ years of Performance Testing/Monitoring of Web Applications
- Ability to code with a programming language using standard software development practices such as unit testing and iterative development
- Good knowledge of network and edge technologies
- Excellent Linux fundamentals and solid understanding of diagnosing system utilization
- Experience working with Agile methodologies
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence others
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline for performance testing
- Experience with Performance test framework development and automation
- Experience working with large scale distributed systems and large data volumes
- Experience with cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service, especially Azure
- Experience with container-based service schedulers such as Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes
- Experience with some of MySQL, Java, Python, JMeter, Splunk, Prometheus, Dynatrace, and Datadog
