About the role
- Senior IT Developer building, testing, and supporting banking applications for TD, a major global financial institution. Leading complex development, systems administration, and incident-resolution activities.
Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements and conduct program/system research to identify solution components and resolve problems
- Develop new applications and perform unit/component testing
- Communicate solution-development requirements and contribute to project plans, estimates, timelines, and status updates
- Inform stakeholders of project-impacting issues and resolve or escalate them
- Support business inquiries and activities through enhancements and break/fix implementations
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Developers, and Solution Designers
- Create and maintain quality code and provide code maintenance and support during testing and post-production deployment
- Participate in peer code reviews
- Apply secure coding practices
- Identify and recommend development/testing solutions and tools
- Complete unit and integration testing
- Participate in scope assessment, risk and cost analysis, and project delivery practices
- Maintain processes for issue prevention and resolve incidents
- Administer supported applications and environments, including monitoring, configuration, backup, authentication, and tuning
- Ensure application health monitoring and monthly SLA targets
- Provide technical expertise during incident management and facilitate communications through resolution
- Keep current with technologies, trends, business applications, infrastructure, and analytical tools
- Prioritize workload and deliver quality results on schedule
- Recommend productivity, effectiveness, and operational-efficiency improvements
- Establish relationships with business and technology partners, program managers, and project managers
- Participate in knowledge transfer
- Serve as senior or lead developer and coach team members
- Typically report to an IT Manager or above
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
- 5–7 years relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge of technology, tools, programming languages, processes, and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of the business, enterprise technology areas and/or the organization
- Knowledge of technology architecture standards
- Knowledge of standard security coding practices
- Ability to perform unit and integration testing
- Ability to perform systems administration, configuration, backup, authentication, and tuning
- Ability to monitor application/service performance and meet monthly SLA targets
- Ability to analyze incident reports and outages and perform impact assessments
- Ability to work independently on complex to difficult technical tasks
- Ability to act as a senior or lead developer and coach/guide team members
- Ability to resolve highly complex development-related problems
