About the role
- Software Engineer III leading secure, scalable technology solutions for TD, a major North American bank. Designing, developing, automating and supporting complex applications and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead creation of comprehensive end-to-end solutions for projects and platforms
- Own technical design and delivery of specific technical solutions based on stakeholder requirements
- Develop and maintain technical solutions aligned with engineering and architectural principles
- Plan, evaluate, recommend, design, operationalize and support secure, reliable, scalable and efficient solutions
- Lead system/application administration, installation, configuration/provisioning, platform planning and design, integration, and release/deployment management
- Execute engineering strategy through introduction of tools and automation for build, test, release and configuration activities
- Lead solution-option development and coordinate stakeholders to support development initiatives
- Develop and document detailed solution designs and act as an application subject matter expert throughout the lifecycle
- Develop complex applications/systems and perform programming/coding
- Create functional, technical and user-interface designs
- Consult on requirements and specifications and apply business-function knowledge to design software/systems
- Review technical deliverables, identify gaps and recommend redesigns
- Recommend and implement buy/build/reuse improvements to enhance customer experience, availability and cost effectiveness
- Define application metrics and performance goals with Technology partners
- Identify and address application, data, cross-capability and cross-release issues
- Analyze business and environment requirements and recommend solutions within the business technology architecture
- Work with Architects on environment modifications, data conversion impacts and performance requirements
- Advance TD engineering practices through collaboration, research, analysis and problem solving
- Conduct functional or enterprise-level analysis and make recommendations
- Conduct code reviews, Operational Readiness Reviews, and support gating and review sign-offs
- Monitor service, productivity and efficiency and implement process/performance improvements
- Lead or implement remediation plans for performance, risk and governance issues
- Manage relationships across business lines and functions and ensure enterprise/regulatory alignment
- Identify, manage and escalate risks
- Mentor and enable team members by sharing knowledge and engineering best practices
- Provide guidance and proactively identify and resolve team issues
- Keep stakeholders informed about project and activity status
- Participate in knowledge transfer, cross-training, performance management and development activities
- Report generally to a Practice Lead
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree, Post Graduate degree or Technical Certificate
- Strong academic background, e.g., computer science or engineering
- 5–7 years relevant experience
- Expert knowledge of the business, broader organization, technical environment, processes, procedures, tools and relevant technology areas
- Expert knowledge of specific engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures
- Primary subject matter expertise in multiple areas
- Expertise in research, analysis, design, and hardware/software support
- Ability to work independently and/or autonomously as a senior/lead
- Knowledge of software engineering activities, enterprise frameworks and methodologies
- Knowledge of application, platform and infrastructure environments
- Knowledge of system/application administration, installation, configuration/provisioning, platform planning and design, integration, and release/deployment management
- Strong collaboration, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to conduct code reviews and Operational Readiness Reviews
- Ability to manage risks and comply with internal, external, enterprise, industry and regulatory requirements
