About the role

  • Software Engineer III automating application delivery for TD, a global financial institution. Designing complex systems, improving engineering practices, and mentoring technical teams in Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the engineering strategy for introducing tools and automating build, test, release, and configuration activities
  • Lead creation of solution options and comprehensive end-to-end solutions, coordinating relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and document detailed solution designs and act as an application subject matter expert throughout the lifecycle
  • Develop complex applications and systems, including programming and coding
  • Create functional, technical, and user-interface designs meeting business, architecture, performance, and development requirements
  • Consult on requirements and specifications and apply business-function knowledge to design optimal software and systems
  • Review technical deliverables, identify gaps, and recommend redesigns
  • Identify, negotiate, source, and implement buy/build/reuse improvements and solutions
  • Define application metrics and performance goals with technology partners
  • Address application, data, cross-capability, and cross-release issues affecting application integrity
  • Analyze business requirements and current system environments to recommend solutions and collect infrastructure environment requirements
  • Work with architects on environment modifications, data conversion impacts, and performance requirements
  • Contribute to the advancement of TD engineering practices through collaboration, research, analysis, and problem-solving
  • Conduct code reviews, Operational Readiness Reviews, and gating and review sign-offs
  • Monitor service, productivity, and efficiency levels and implement process and performance improvements
  • Lead or facilitate remediation plans for performance, risk, and governance issues
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and alignment with enterprise and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and manage risks and escalate non-standard or high-risk activities
  • Keep current on emerging issues, trends, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate as a team member, support a positive work environment, and communicate project status and relevant information
  • Provide engineering thought leadership and knowledge transfer
  • Mentor and enable team members by sharing knowledge and engineering best practices
  • Lead, motivate, and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Act as a brand ambassador for TD and the business area

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, Post Graduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Strong academic background, such as computer science or engineering
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience
  • Expert knowledge of the business, broader organization, technical environment, processes, procedures, tools, and related technology areas
  • Expert knowledge of specific engineering domains, frameworks, technologies, tools, processes, and procedures
  • Expertise in application architecture, infrastructure, security, design, support, and solutions
  • Subject matter expertise in multiple areas
  • Ability to work independently or autonomously as a senior/lead across diverse tasks and operational support
  • Ability to develop and document detailed solution designs
  • Programming and coding experience for complex applications and systems
  • Knowledge of software engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes, and procedures
  • Ability to conduct technical deliverable and code reviews
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and system environments
  • Ability to address application and data integrity issues
  • Ability to work with architects on infrastructure, environment modifications, data conversion, and performance requirements
  • Ability to manage risks and comply with enterprise and regulatory requirements
