About the role

  • Operations & Events Coordinator planning hybrid events and communications for the University of Alberta’s academic health sciences faculty. Supporting departmental marketing, public engagement, and event logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, promote, and execute in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, including department retreats, conferences, recruitment activities, and community outreach
  • Manage full event lifecycles, including scheduling, vendor outreach, AV/technology preparation, and venue setup
  • Serve as the department's primary point of contact for public presence
  • Ensure communications and promotional materials align with University of Alberta brand standards
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, learners, and external health partners to identify, draft, and spotlight departmental achievements
  • Maintain the departmental events calendar
  • Support communications and engagement initiative planning
  • Maintain resource inventory
  • Provide general administrative support to event stakeholders

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Communications, PR, Event Management, or a related field
  • 2-3 years in a role combining physical event logistics with digital communications
  • Proven experience in end-to-end event planning across physical and digital formats
  • Ability to connect with diverse stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Proactive initiative
  • Background combining administrative operations with communications, marketing, or community relations
  • Polished professional communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving capability
  • Resume and cover letter required
  • Ability to comply with applicable collective agreement terms and conditions
