About the role

  • Program Coordinator managing stakeholder partnerships, engagement, and complex research for the University of Alberta’s health sciences faculty. Leading implementation science collaboration, communications, events, and scholarly outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities of the AbSPORU Implementation Science Collaborative
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with universities, government ministries, Alberta Health Services, CIHR, Alberta Innovates, policy and decision-makers, researchers, care providers, and networks
  • Link decision-makers, researchers, and care providers to improve understanding of goals and professional cultures
  • Assemble working groups to assess topic-specific issues and develop plans
  • Lead community-building events, meetings, capacity-building and professional development events, and social events
  • Coordinate networks organized around specific interests
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for team members, external collaborators, and clients
  • Monitor resources and quality control with the Team Lead and Assistant Director
  • Advise on business and strategic plans and assist with reporting to funders and stakeholders
  • Design and implement mechanisms to evaluate the Team’s work
  • Coordinate complex research activities and analysis in knowledge mobilization, implementation science, and learning health systems
  • Set project objectives and timelines
  • Determine required resources and engage clinical and methodological experts
  • Oversee research project operations and quality of work
  • Establish and maintain internal and external expert networks
  • Supervise the research team
  • Write research papers and prepare presentations and publications
  • Present analytical research at seminars, stakeholder meetings, and conferences
  • Apply for research funding as a co-applicant
  • Monitor best practices and emerging issues in knowledge mobilization, implementation science, and learning health systems
  • Contribute to special reports
  • Assist with research grant applications and contract proposals
  • Coordinate informal training sessions and participate in formal training opportunities
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Director

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Masters degree
  • PhD preferred
  • Experience with the principles of knowledge translation and implementation
  • Experience building and maintaining partnerships with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in a complex working environment dealing with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Excellent communication and writing skills for a variety of audiences
  • Experience independently coordinating large research projects, including proposal preparation, project coordination, and writing and editing scientific manuscripts
  • Strong leadership and management skills to lead projects and people
  • Ability to work collaboratively amid ambiguity, shifting timelines, changing priorities, and multiple simultaneous projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and problem-solving
