About the role

  • Senior analyst optimizing the University of Alberta’s student information systems. Leading requirements, solution design, testing, integrations, and operational support.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with central service units to gather, capture and validate complex business requirements using advanced use cases
  • Analyze application capabilities for enhancements, upgrades and new development projects
  • Provide functional guidance to technical analysts and developers regarding reports, processes, interfaces, conversions, and enhancement developments
  • Develop efficient future-state solutions and deliver post-implementation support following enhancements, upgrades and new projects
  • Document business process changes and application enhancements with Enterprise Applications to ensure adherence to standards and quality
  • Define test scenarios, prepare test data, track and address deviations, and secure user sign-off
  • Coordinate processes and enhancements with service providers, focusing on system, regression, and validation testing
  • Resolve complex student administration issues to maintain data integrity and efficient system operations
  • Partner with service providers to ensure timely resolution of operational problems and testing completion
  • Deliver expert day-to-day advice and support to client areas on PeopleSoft and associated student administration applications
  • Liaise with internal teams, external vendors, college/faculty staff and business service staff on application support, operational service/change requests and projects
  • Participate in production operations, solution enhancements, application upgrades and new development projects

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in business administration, computer science or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Qualifications or credentials in project management or business analysis preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of business analysis experience conducting complex business process reviews, workflow administration and enterprise application implementations or enhancements
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting Student Information Systems (SIS) and student lifecycles, with direct background in admissions, student records, student financials or academic advisement
  • In-depth working knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, including its relational database structure, security setup, core functionality and query development
  • Hands-on experience with SQL query development, enterprise application testing frameworks, report building and productivity software (Google Suite/MS Office, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Proven track record integrating PeopleSoft with other higher education platforms like Slate, Canvas, Ad Astra, Symplicity, Modern Campus or Orbis
  • Demonstrated competency using project management and process improvement methodologies alongside a systematic, analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Exceptional verbal, written, presentation and group facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts across functional teams
  • Strong initiative, organizational awareness and leadership capabilities, with a collaborative approach to change management and team environments
