About the role

  • Director of Engineering at Vanta leading engineering teams for enterprise SaaS compliance solutions. Driving technical strategy and organizational growth in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple teams to deliver results consistently and sustainably while holding a high bar for execution and quality
  • Independently identify and realize strategies that deliver significant value to our customers and business, with a focus on enterprise platform capabilities
  • Set and deliver technical strategy such as evolving the legacy codebase and building foundational primitives to support the long-term product vision
  • Build a best-in-class engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and creating an environment where teams and managers can do their best work
  • Actively shape the organization to deliver for the business, including talent development, growing leaders, and performance management
  • Partner closely with Design, Product, and GTM counterparts to build best-in-class platform capabilities and bring them to market
  • Drive key architectural initiatives to support Vanta's upmarket growth
  • Play an integral role in influencing and shaping Vanta's engineering culture and strategy
  • Enable teams to ship iteratively with speed and quality while effectively balancing ambiguity, available data, and customer needs

Requirements

  • 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, with deep experience building enterprise SaaS products and platforms in a high-growth environment
  • Experience leading and scaling engineering organizations of 30+ with multiple teams, and a proven track record of growing line managers
  • Passion for leading, coaching, and building an inspired team through setting vision, unlocking potential, and driving compassionate accountability
  • Strong technical craft with the ability to set and deliver technical strategy, including experience with architectural evolution at scale (e.g., monolith to microservices, event-driven architecture, multi-tenant systems)
  • Business acumen paired with strong product sense—understanding how platform capabilities enable customer value and business outcomes
  • Experience shipping products at scale with evidence of understanding how work fits into product requirements
  • Strong decision maker who effectively balances ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality
  • Effective communicator and story-teller, able to influence cross-functional stakeholders and engineering partners at all levels
  • Operates at multiple altitudes, from developing vision and strategy to driving execution
  • Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
