About the role
- Marketing automation developer building Braze journeys, interactive emails, and AI workflows. Supporting Wealthsimple’s financial products through advanced personalization, integrations, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain email templates and the email design system
- Build interactive email experiences, including dropdowns, carousels, and AMP for email
- Code background images, device targeting, and dark mode support
- Guide and support Lifecycle Marketing on email and in-app message builds
- Monitor industry changes and email client support updates
- Advise on email and in-app message feasibility and channel nuances
- Troubleshoot complex email, in-app, and web template issues
- Design and build complex, multi-channel automation journeys in Braze
- Administer platform roles, users, and account settings
- Create and maintain custom HTML templates for in-app messaging
- Write Liquid for personalization and dynamic content
- Develop custom scripts, webhooks, and advanced Liquid logic
- Integrate external tools and platforms using APIs
- Test and support platform-side integration requirements
- Support non-Lifecycle teams using marketing tools
- Implement personalization using for loops, connected content, and catalogs
- Write SQL queries for data extraction and reporting
- Create advanced segmentation strategies
- Build custom reports and data visualizations
- Design technical solutions based on relational database structures
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize AI tools for personalization, segmentation, predictive analytics, A/B testing, and forecasting
- Build automated workflows and AI integrations to automate data flows and reporting
- Create scoping tools, templates, and self-service campaign solutions
- Train the team on automation tools and document best practices
- Manage the Lifecycle Marketing JIRA board and assign cross-team requests
- Maintain deep links code snippets
- Serve as technical SME for email and lifecycle marketing platforms
- Collaborate with marketers, designers, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions
Requirements
- 3–5 years of email development experience
- Expert-level HTML/CSS for email, including responsive design, email client quirks, and advanced techniques
- Experience building dropdowns, carousels, AMP for email, and other interactive elements
- Proven experience building complex, multi-channel automation flows in Braze, Iterable, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Experience with Taxi for Email or another EDS platform
- Strong skills in Liquid, webhooks, and other marketing automation scripting languages
- Ability to write complex SQL queries for segmentation and reporting
- Experience integrating external platforms using APIs beyond standard supported integrations
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills for niche email and platform issues
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Strong instinct for identifying and implementing scalable automation solutions
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
