Health and safety specialist supporting WorkSafeNB’s workplace protection and wellness programs. Developing compliance initiatives, analyzing incidents and data, and promoting employee wellbeing across New Brunswick.
Responsibilities
Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Occupational Health and Safety/Psychological Health and Safety Program
Support training and development of mandatory health and safety programs, directives, and third-party health and safety training
Support the development and implementation of corporate wellness initiatives
Gather and analyze Health, Safety, and Wellness data from multiple sources to extract trends and organizational insights
Support the Incident Management process to capture, document, and investigate workplace incidents and prevent recurrence
Report to the Director, Health and Wellness
Requirements
University degree in Science, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, or another relevant discipline
Minimum 3 years of work experience in administration of occupational health and safety programs
Experience interpreting and applying relevant provincial/federal health and safety legislation, standards, statistical information, and guidelines
Occupational Health and Safety knowledge
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and related compliance requirements
Knowledge of policies, guidelines, and standards of the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation
Understanding of the Workers Compensation Act
Knowledge of health and safety, including ergonomics and/or physical safety hazards or organizational health and employee wellbeing
Written and spoken competence in English is required
Professional designation in Occupational Health and Safety, such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional, is considered an asset
