About the role

  • Contract Accountant Expert (Senior Tax Specialist/Manager) for estate and trust tax services. Hybrid role in Toronto, 6-month contract with possible extension.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director, Tax Services, responsible for managing and supporting junior team members while delivering high quality tax services for complex estate and trust accounts. Focuses on income tax compliance, planning, and administrative functions including preparing/reviewing complex personal, estate, and trust tax returns, managing workflow, overseeing junior staff, reviewing assessments, identifying tax planning opportunities, and acting as technical resource.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 plus years of experience in accounting or tax related roles. Post secondary degree in Accounting or equivalent. Experience preparing T1 personal returns, T1 terminal (final) returns, and T3 trust and estate returns. Familiarity with graduated rate estates. Strong working knowledge of tax preparation software. Ability to conduct technical tax research. Leadership skills and experience supporting or reviewing junior staff. CPA designation preferred or in progress.
