About the role

Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships and scientific credibility with established and new external experts
- Respond to inquiries by providing key scientific and medical information to external experts and internal stakeholders
- Acquire and maintain key scientific knowledge to communicate credible information to external experts and healthcare professionals
- Participate in investigator-initiated studies, clinical studies, and relevant medical projects, and provide follow-up
- Provide scientific support and contribute to maintaining relationships with external experts and academic centers
- Deliver credible presentations on a variety of scientific topics to healthcare professionals, individually or in groups
- Participate in identifying healthcare professionals for AbbVie collaboration projects, including research and conference/meeting support
- Ensure the integrity of scientific or informational content shared as part of collaborations
- Attend relevant meetings and conferences and prepare summaries of key data presented
- Cover Quebec and Atlantic Canada in the field
- Understand the unmet needs of key stakeholders and incorporate these insights into field team initiatives
- Coordinate scientific and medical engagement efforts to develop interaction plans aligned with the scientific engagement plan
- Implement data-driven business strategies and decisions
- Communicate, collaborate, and integrate the perspectives of field team members
Requirements
- Must hold an advanced degree in a scientific discipline, such as a PharmD, MD, or PhD
- Relevant business experience combined with strong knowledge of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry
- Experience as a Medical Science Liaison; at least 2 years preferred
- Experience in the Eye Care, Ophthalmology, or gene therapy therapeutic area
- Experience in a customer-facing role within the healthcare industry
- Experience presenting and/or interpreting scientific publications or clinical research
- Knowledge of scientific methods applicable to clinical research and the current legal and regulatory requirements governing this field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Comfortable with technology and various tools/systems
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time
- Valid driver’s license and passport
- Advanced English-language knowledge and proficiency required
