About the role

  • Medical Science Liaison advancing AbbVie’s innovative medicines across Quebec. Building expert relationships and delivering scientific support for healthcare professionals and medical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture relationships with established and emerging external experts
  • Advance AbbVie's scientific credibility with external experts
  • Respond to requests by providing key scientific and medical information to external experts and internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain scientific knowledge for credible information dissemination to external experts and healthcare professionals
  • Participate in and follow up on investigator-initiated studies, clinical studies, and medical projects within the therapeutic area
  • Provide scientific support and maintain relationships with external experts and academic centres
  • Deliver credible scientific presentations to healthcare professionals individually or in groups
  • Participate in selecting qualified healthcare professionals for research and lecture/meeting collaborations
  • Ensure scientific and educational integrity in collaborative efforts such as advisory boards, congresses, and symposiums
  • Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences and develop summaries of key data presented
  • Cover the Quebec territory

Requirements

  • Must have an advanced degree: Doctorate, PharmD or MD
  • Relevant business experience with solid knowledge of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Previous experience as an MSL preferred
  • Relevant Eye Care, Ophthalmology or Gene Therapy background considered an asset
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role in the healthcare industry
  • Experience presenting and/or interpreting scientific or clinical research publications
  • Knowledge of scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls
  • Keen interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for the assigned therapeutic area/product and medical research in general
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Must be at ease with technology and various tools/systems for day-to-day tasks
  • Travel required about 50% of the time
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Advanced knowledge of English / fluency in English is essential
  • Ability to understand stakeholders' unmet needs, make impactful decisions, and integrate information into in-field team engagement approaches
  • Ability to coordinate scientific/medical engagement efforts across stakeholders within a single account
  • In-depth understanding and execution of meaningful strategies and data-based business decisions
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and incorporate views of other in-field team members
