About the role
- Product Security Engineer building secure CIAM authentication services for Affirm’s pay-over-time platform. Developing Python/Kotlin APIs, MFA, identity integrations, and reliable account-access experiences.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship customer-facing authentication features, including smoother login experiences, MFA, step-up authentication, and device binding
- Develop backend services and APIs in Python or Kotlin
- Work with Okta, Auth0, and ForgeRock identity technologies
- Write custom identity integrations for web, mobile, and partner applications
- Contribute to design, readable code, automated tests, code reviews, and production deployment
- Debug services, improve reliability, and use logs and metrics to understand production behavior
- Collaborate with engineering and product partners while developing secure software and authentication expertise
Requirements
- Ability to write, test, and debug software in Python, Kotlin, or a similar language through coursework, internships, personal projects, open source, or professional work
- No fixed minimum years of experience required
- Foundational understanding of backend development, including APIs, data structures, databases, and version control
- Curiosity about authentication and motivation to build secure, reliable customer experiences
- Practical problem-solving approach and willingness to learn through mentorship and code review
- Clear communication and ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and security teammates
