About the role

  • Assistant Director of Care overseeing resident care, compliance, and nursing programs at AgeCare, a long-term care provider. Supporting staff education, audits, safety, and family concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the senior management team to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate resident care activities
  • Operate within approved policies and procedures
  • Support onboarding and annual staff education
  • Support staff health and safety programs
  • Support infection prevention and control programs
  • Ensure residents’ care is evaluated continuously
  • Work closely with the Registered Staff team and RAI-MDS Coordinator to ensure appropriate documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Review and audit Point Click Care documentation, including progress notes, care plans, and resident assessments
  • Ensure care plans are developed, updated, reviewed regularly, and followed consistently
  • Audit resident care plans quarterly and ensure documentation accurately reflects resident care requirements
  • Respond to resident or family concerns and take appropriate action within decision-making authority or escalate to the Director of Care

Requirements

  • Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing, including activation, nursing, and personnel administration
  • Knowledge of The Nursing Homes Act and Regulations, Homes for Special Care Act, Extended Care Program Directives, appropriate sections of The Health Disciplines Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food & Drugs Act (Canada), Narcotic Control Act (Canada), and other pertinent federal, provincial, and municipal Statutes
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Post graduate studies in nursing, nursing administration and geriatrics considered an asset
