About the role
- Assistant Director of Care overseeing resident care, compliance, and nursing programs at AgeCare, a long-term care provider. Supporting staff education, audits, safety, and family concerns.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the senior management team to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate resident care activities
- Operate within approved policies and procedures
- Support onboarding and annual staff education
- Support staff health and safety programs
- Support infection prevention and control programs
- Ensure residents’ care is evaluated continuously
- Work closely with the Registered Staff team and RAI-MDS Coordinator to ensure appropriate documentation and regulatory compliance
- Review and audit Point Click Care documentation, including progress notes, care plans, and resident assessments
- Ensure care plans are developed, updated, reviewed regularly, and followed consistently
- Audit resident care plans quarterly and ensure documentation accurately reflects resident care requirements
- Respond to resident or family concerns and take appropriate action within decision-making authority or escalate to the Director of Care
Requirements
- Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing, including activation, nursing, and personnel administration
- Knowledge of The Nursing Homes Act and Regulations, Homes for Special Care Act, Extended Care Program Directives, appropriate sections of The Health Disciplines Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food & Drugs Act (Canada), Narcotic Control Act (Canada), and other pertinent federal, provincial, and municipal Statutes
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Post graduate studies in nursing, nursing administration and geriatrics considered an asset
