About the role
- Packaging Technician operating equipment and executing GMP packaging orders for Apotex, a Canadian pharmaceutical company. Supporting safety, quality, compliance, changeovers, and productivity targets.
Responsibilities
- Work as a team member to meet and exceed operation targets in safety, quality, and productivity
- Demonstrate safe practices and comply with company values, policies, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario, and Apotex policies and procedures
- Attend safety meetings and apply relevant knowledge to packaging operations
- Report safety incidents, near misses, and accidents immediately according to Safe Work Procedures
- Perform packaging duties according to Standard Operation Documents (SODs) and regulatory requirements
- Access official corporate sources such as ApoWeb for current information and documents
- Exhibit Good Documentation Practices and conduct directed quality checks
- Report quality deviations and contribute to continuous workplace improvements
- Execute Packaging Orders efficiently and effectively
- Operate packaging equipment within specifications and communicate equipment problems to mechanical staff
- Maintain packaging component supplies during operations
- Participate in equipment changeovers, including sanitation, setup, assembly, and disassembly
- Select, care for, and use tools, parts, and equipment appropriately
- Communicate necessary information timely and accurately
- Support the team in delivering expected business results
- Follow Global Business Ethics and Compliance, Global Quality, Safety and Environment, and HR policies
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned
Requirements
- Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
- Able to lift weights up to 20 kg
- Able to meet the standard physical demands in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to express oneself clearly in English (written and verbal), understand, and follow verbal and written work instructions without errors
- Numeric skills to understand and achieve business targets
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Self-Managed team player with a positive attitude exhibiting cooperation, communication, flexibility and initiative to acquire functional skills
- Previous Packaging Operator experience in a GMP environment, such as Food or Pharmaceutical industry, is an asset
- Basic experience in the use of internet environment and MS Office tools
