About the role

  • Maintenance Technician maintaining production equipment for Nortrak Canada, a designer and manufacturer of special trackwork. Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and CNC systems at the Thorold facility.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant production equipment, including CNC milling machines, hydraulic presses, saws, planers, cranes, jib hoists, forklifts, welders and other metalworking equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnosis and repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and CNC electronic systems
  • Maintain manufacturing machinery, material handling systems, cranes, forklifts, dust collection systems and the physical plant
  • Train operators on preventative maintenance
  • Maintain a work order system
  • Lay out, install and start up project work
  • Organize and maintain spare parts inventory
  • Complete daily work orders and assignments in a timely manner
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s safety, quality and environmental procedures, practices and policies

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED preferred
  • Vocational technical training in mechanical related field is preferred
  • 3 years of maintenance experience preferred
  • Must be able to score the minimum required on the corporate maintenance test
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred
  • Understand the operation of pneumatics, hydraulics and general mechanics
  • Understanding of Programmable Logic Controls, Variable Frequency Drives, sensors and transducers
  • Must be able to wire motors and controls up to 480 VAC and 250 VDC
  • Must be capable of performing shaft alignments and understand coupler types
  • Understand hydraulic controls and pumps, including pressure relief valves, directional control valves and flow controls on vane and piston pumps
  • Willingness to work outside from man lifts in rain or snow
  • Understand lockout/tagout procedures
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, pushing, pulling and lifting
  • Regularly lift and carry 30–35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Required close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment
  • Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively
