About the role
- Merchandise Planner turning sales data into demand forecasts and inventory plans for Article, a furniture retailer. Improving forecast accuracy, inventory health, and category performance through cross-functional planning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain channel-level demand forecasts supporting category growth and financial goals
- Manage inventory to maintain product availability while balancing inventory health and financial targets
- Own Open-to-Buy (OTB) execution and align inventory investments with merchandising and financial strategies
- Analyze historical sales, trends, and business performance to improve forecasts and identify risks and opportunities
- Track forecast accuracy, sell-through, and inventory health KPIs to guide planning decisions
- Turn data into clear recommendations to improve category performance
- Partner with Category Management to translate assortment strategies into inventory and demand plans
- Collaborate with Sourcing and Order Management on vendor capacity and production needs
- Identify opportunities to improve or automate planning processes
- Work with Category Management, Sourcing, Order Management, Finance, and other Article teams
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in category planning, demand planning, merchandising, or a related area
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field
- Ability to turn complex data into clear recommendations and planning decisions
- Experience with supply chain or merchandise planning tools such as SAP IBP, Blue Yonder (JDA), John Galt, or Anaplan
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Familiarity with reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau
- Ability to use data and business context to make informed decisions and adjust when conditions change
- Clear communication and ability to build working relationships across teams
- Ability to build alignment and influence decisions
- Adaptability and ability to prioritize competing needs and deadlines while taking ownership
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Completion of a criminal background check
