About the role

  • Buyer managing raw-material purchasing, supplier negotiations, and inventory optimization for ASSA ABLOY’s Ontario manufacturing facility. Driving KPIs, cost savings, and high fill rates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory levels and control purchasing of raw materials for the manufacturing facility
  • Identify and execute opportunities to optimize inventory turns and reduce costs while maintaining high fill rates
  • Process purchase orders with suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, quality, and lead times with raw-material suppliers
  • Review, receive, and enter daily orders into the ERP
  • Oversee purchase-order receipt entry and address receiving exceptions
  • Complete change orders and delivery expedite requests
  • Set up new part numbers and maintain item data
  • Investigate factory RGAs and returned goods
  • Monitor deliveries and shipments, reconcile inventory, and follow up on late shipments
  • Assist the Senior Procurement Specialist with stock adjustments, scrap and obsolete items, and month-end reporting
  • Monitor raw-material levels, safety stock, shortages, and regional demand changes
  • Use reports, inventory applications, and processes to achieve inventory availability and fill-rate objectives
  • Review inventory performance, identify root causes of stockouts, and develop corrective plans
  • Maintain, monitor, and action KPIs
  • Apply continuous-improvement approaches to reduce replenishment and inventory-stocking costs
  • Identify underperforming products and develop response plans
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives through supplier negotiations, value engineering, alternative sourcing, and process improvements
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve inventory programs, processes, policies, and initiatives
  • Perform other responsibilities as required

Requirements

  • BSc/BA in business administration or supply chain or relevant field
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CPIM or CITT) are an asset
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Inventory Coordinator or similar position
  • Proficiency with ERP systems for inventory management, material planning, and purchasing; Oracle and/or JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred
  • Strong quantitative skills with the ability to create and interpret meaningful reports
  • Working knowledge of customs documentation and importing process and activities around importing product into Canada
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • A sense of urgency and the ability to deal with change and the shifting demands within the business environment
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Prior experience working on project teams is an asset
  • Travel required: 0%-10%
