Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team specializing in aluminum smelters and emerging technologies
- Engage the team around a vision that promotes collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence
- Act as a mentor and technical resource
- Support talent recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention
- Plan resource requirements, optimize capacity utilization, and promote knowledge transfer
- Oversee team activities to ensure quality, cost, and schedule objectives are met
- Participate in budget management, process optimization, and the implementation of health and safety standards, procedures, and requirements
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of work methods, engineering practices, and digital tools
- Support the growth strategy for the Aluminum sector and business development activities
- Lead or contribute to the preparation of service offers and technical proposals
- Build strong client relationships and participate in the strategic integration of international resources
- Depending on expertise and project needs, act as Project Manager, Discipline Lead, Technical Lead, Lead Reviewer, or Subject Matter Expert
- Conduct and review engineering studies and projects
- Define design criteria and ensure multidisciplinary coordination
- Support the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in industrial engineering, including 5 years in team management or technical leadership
- Excellent command of French and good command of English
- Recognized expertise in one or more areas of an aluminum smelter (electrolysis, carbon, casting, utilities and infrastructure, or decarbonization technologies)
- Good knowledge of aluminum industry technologies (AP, EGA, ELYSIS, or equivalent)
- Experience across the various phases of industrial projects, from feasibility studies through commissioning
- Inspiring leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and a keen interest in business development and team growth
- Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) required
