About the role

  • Assistant Electrical Engineer at AtkinsRéalis involved in nuclear electrical systems design. Responsibilities include engineering tasks, technical documentation, and client coordination within the nuclear industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work following SNC-Lavalin/Candu Energy procedures and QA programs
  • Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines
  • Become involved in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design phases to support CANDU and other Nuclear electrical systems and modifications under supervision of a P.Eng
  • Prepare technical documents, such as engineering drawings, calculations, design/analysis reports, and specifications
  • Participate in review of interfacing discipline’s documentation
  • Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters if required
  • Conduct field walk-downs during different design phases and prepare walkdown reports
  • Assist field construction and execution activities, such as field changes and commissioning

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
  • 1 - 3 years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design
  • Experience in modelling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP or other similar software
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries
  • Basic knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems
  • Working knowledge applicable codes and standards such as CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC)
  • Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Willing to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW)
