About the role

  • Junior Electrical Engineering Analyst supporting nuclear electrical systems through technical documentation and engineering work at AtkinsRéalis. Involved in design phases and field construction activities under supervision of a P.Eng.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical documents, such as: engineering drawings (including GAs, DDs, EDs), change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, commissioning specifications, etc.
  • Perform engineering work following AtkinsRealis/Candu Energy procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work.
  • Become involved in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design phases to support CANDU and other Nuclear electrical systems and modifications under supervision of a P.Eng.
  • Support preparation of requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement.
  • Prepare or assist preparation of scope of work and input to bid proposals.
  • Perform field walk-downs during different design phases and prepare Walkdown reports as required.
  • Assist field construction and execution activities, such as: field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, closeout, etc.
  • Complete the assigned scopes or tasks within given budget and schedule, and in good quality.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design for either in the nuclear industry or other heavy industrial environment is considered an asset such as: mining, oil & gas, power, etc.
  • Experience in modelling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP, or other similar software program is an asset.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
  • Basic knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards, such as of CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) is considered an asset.
  • Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.
  • Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills and good ability to interact and communicate (both verbal and in writing) professionally with colleagues, clients and contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
