Responsibilities
Lead engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work.
Lead conceptual and/or detailed design of Candu instrumentation and control systems and modifications thereof, including definition of system functional and performance requirements and control algorithms, definition of control logic and wiring arrangements, control parameters, setpoints, instrument ranges and environmental qualification and seismic qualification.
Review specification, sizing, and selection for various types of I&C components, and produce component related documentation including assessment documents, setpoint calculations, error analyses, technical specifications, etc.
Update and/or prepare I&C engineering design documents including design requirements, design description, elementary diagrams, functional specifications, etc., together with the supporting analysis/assessment documents and other design basis documents.
Provide input to the drawing office for the preparation of various I&C related engineering drawings such as general arrangement drawings, instrument loop diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, bills of materials, etc.
Provide or update wiring and technical design input to computerized wiring programs.
Deliver technical presentations accurately and effectively.
Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement.
Interface and provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters.
Prepare scope of work and input to bid proposals.
Perform field walk-downs during different design phases and prepare Walkdown reports as required.
Assist field construction and execution activities, such as: field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, closeout, etc.
Assist in providing responses to technical enquiries from design review teams and regulatory agencies.
Complete the assigned scopes or tasks within given budget and schedule, and in good quality.
Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering related matters.
Requirements
Engineering Degree in a relevant field of engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Experience commensurate with the grade level, with a minimum of 15 years of pertinent engineering experience.
Previous experience at an operating nuclear power station or a similar installation not required, but would be an asset.
Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
Familiarity with instrumentation and control system functions, configurations and equipment as used for CANDU plant process systems, safety systems, or safety-related systems, or for similar systems in other industries would be an asset.
Familiarity with industrial/nuclear QA programs and procedures along with pertinent CSA, IEEE, or related I&C engineering codes and standards would be an asset.
Willingness to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW).
Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.
Ability to manage project schedules and budgets.
