Responsibilities
Lead and deliver the functional, preliminary, and detailed design phases for a diverse and impactful range of transportation infrastructure projects, from municipal roads and highways to LRT/BRT corridors and active transportation facilities.
Prepare and review design documents, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for roadways, intersections, and transit facilities.
Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines to coordinate utility, drainage, and grading designs.
Support tender package preparation, respond to contractor inquiries during construction, and perform rigorous quality checks.
Mentor junior staff and shape the team’s technical best practices, maintaining strong client relationships.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO or eligible to obtain P.Eng. within 12 months
3-6 years of direct experience in transportation design including municipal roads, highways, LRT/BRT, intersection improvements, and active transportation infrastructure; roundabout and protected intersection design experience considered an asset
Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
Working knowledge of specialized software such as Synchro and AutoTurn to support design tasks
Strong understanding of relevant technical standards including TAC Geometric Design Guide, Ontario Traffic Manuals, City of Ottawa design standards and policies, and the Ontario Highway Traffic Act
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
