About the role

  • Online financing manager assessing and underwriting BDC loans for Canadian entrepreneurs. Conducting credit analysis, risk reviews, and client support across the application process.

Responsibilities

  • Support BDC’s online financing and digital strategies
  • Deliver an efficient and positive client experience throughout the loan application and authorization process
  • Assess online loan applications
  • Conduct due diligence and credit analysis
  • Resolve client issues and escalate exceptional or unusual situations when required
  • Conduct investigations on online loan applications, including KYC requirements, credit and loan analysis, and preparation of documentation for final loan approval
  • Apply online financing policies, procedures, credit criteria and decision-making requirements
  • Prepare credit recommendations for loan authorization or decline based on credit scoring and analysis
  • Identify potential credit and fraud risks and prepare fraud files when required
  • Analyze and negotiate financial deals and develop solutions balancing client needs with lending requirements
  • Communicate loan application status to clients, including declined applications
  • Collaborate with business centre colleagues and internal partners
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information in BDC systems
  • Stay current on credit policies, procedures, processes, CRM practices and regulatory requirements
  • Help resolve compliance issues or material changes arising as financing transactions are negotiated and structured
  • Provide support to Online Financing Analysts and other teams
  • Contribute to an inclusive workplace supporting Canadian entrepreneurs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related business discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in loan writing / credit underwriting
  • Experience analyzing and negotiating financial deals
  • Knowledge of credit scoring
  • Demonstrated credit judgment and understanding of credit policies and lending practices
  • Knowledge of banking products, banking services, policies and procedures
  • Ability to conduct detailed loan analysis and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-changing, deadline-driven environment and manage competing priorities
  • Client service and client communication skills, including the ability to interact and negotiate with clients and internal partners
  • Time management and prioritization skills to meet critical deadlines
  • Business acumen and understanding of small business dynamics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Bilingualism is an asset
