About the role

  • Senior mixed-signal IC designer developing high-speed optical transceivers for Cisco’s networking infrastructure. Architecting CMOS circuits and leading complex ASIC blocks from design through production.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, lay out, measure, and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS products
  • Develop high-speed and high-accuracy analog designs for optical communications products
  • Lead efforts for a large block on a complex chip
  • Mentor team members and track deliverables
  • Participate in peer reviews of complex IC designs
  • Provide design methodology from conception through production
  • Collaborate with packaging and hardware design teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications
  • Collaborate with mixed-signal, digital/DSP, system, package, and module design groups
  • Contribute to high-speed AMS circuits and optical communications products

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 12 years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 8 years of related experience, or PhD plus 5 years of related experience
  • Prior experience designing, simulating, and measuring high-speed ICs in at least three areas: SerDes/serial links, output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, opamps/PGAs, or equalization techniques
  • Experience with electrical transceiver applications, including backplane and cable communications
  • Experience with FinFET and GAA technologies
  • High-frequency layout experience, including floorplanning, power/ground, digital/analog signal routing, inductors, transformers, and transmission lines
  • Experience with design for manufacturability, including PVT characterization, electromigration, self-heating, and IR drop analysis
  • Laboratory validation experience, including ESD practices/methodology and test setup construction
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Virtuoso and Calibre layout validation tools, EMX, AMS mixed-signal simulations, and Matlab
