About the role

  • Scientific Director guiding pharmaceutical medical communications and publication strategy. Leading scientific oversight, publications, client counsel, and new-business support for Citrus Health Group.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific direction, leadership, and oversight over all projects on assigned accounts
  • Examine and distill complex scientific data into impactful publications, educational materials, and brand strategies
  • Provide strategic scientific and publications oversight across multiple accounts
  • Review content for scientific accuracy and adherence to client preferences
  • Train and provide feedback to internal team members
  • Develop de novo content, including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and slide decks
  • Identify emerging scientific trends and keep account teams informed
  • Guide strategic account development and provide scientific counsel to clients and internal teams
  • Support identification and conversion of new business opportunities
  • Lead scientific strategies and publication planning, including oversight of scientifically complex materials
  • Serve as subject matter expert on scientific and clinical aspects of client projects and deliverables
  • Review deliverables to ensure quality standards and client expectations are met
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products and services
  • Keep leadership informed of critical client and project updates and concerns
  • Support strategic and tactical client plans and project plans
  • Attend and lead client status meetings, project kick-offs, and debrief meetings
  • Review project reports and alert teams to emerging trends and shifting clinical data
  • Build Citrus Health Group’s scientific reputation with clients
  • Maintain effective partnerships with clients, key experts, and external partners
  • Communicate with authors and clients about project status and changes
  • Participate in client presentations
  • Anticipate and respond to author/client requests
  • Support proposal and pitch development with scientific input

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in the life sciences; PhD, MD or PharmD
  • 5+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical and/or medical communications agency
  • Experience leading publication-heavy accounts and reviewing content developed by junior writers
  • Understanding of product life cycles, competitive landscapes, and the role of publications in clients’ medical and commercial strategies
  • Experience translating complex data into effective presentation formats
  • Strong understanding of clinical research and analyses
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to identify key issues and creatively and strategically overcome challenges
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
  • Ability to think analytically and effectively plan, prioritize, and execute
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert presentation skills with a variety of formats and audiences
  • Ability to work to allocated deadlines and specifications
  • Understanding and application of good publications practice and relevant compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Microsoft PowerPoint, with ability to produce well-designed and effective decks
