Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for managing the Municipal Security Directorate, providing operational leadership, governance and accountability for the integrated delivery of physical security services across the City, covering approximately 600 municipal facilities and the employees who work in them.
Bring an operational, risk-based and expert perspective to the Director's strategic planning process.
Oversee implementation of the approved strategic plan through operational planning, prioritization and performance management across the directorate.
Exercise delegated authority for human resources management, financial management, operational decision-making and risk management.
Escalate operational incidents and report to senior leadership; manage interprogram integration, partner management at the directorate level, and internal governance, audit and compliance.
Requirements
University degree (four-year) in public safety, security management, civil engineering, criminology/criminal justice, business administration, public administration or another related field.
Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal or corporate security, including management-level or portfolio responsibility.
At least five (5) years’ experience managing high-performing multidisciplinary teams, financial resources and operational risks.
Demonstrated experience contributing to organizational strategic planning and leading the implementation of approved strategic and operational plans.
Specialized training in security, including Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) or business continuity planning, is considered an asset.
Security/protection certification is desirable (e.g., Certified Protection Professional [CPP] from ASIS, Certified Security Project Manager [CSPM] from SIA).
Canadian Risk Management (CRM) certification is desirable.
