About the role

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze residential mortgage applications and supporting documentation, including credit, income, assets, and appraisals
  • Adjudicate applications within established lending authority limits
  • Identify and mitigate risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies
  • Manage files from start to finish in a high-volume, performance-driven environment
  • Ensure applications are completed promptly and transactions close according to schedule
  • Act as a proactive partner to mortgage brokers and propose solutions
  • Quickly identify missing information and resolve complex situations
  • Maintain organized, complete, and compliant loan files
  • Identify efficiency improvements and support team members
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the mortgage customer journey

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in residential mortgage underwriting
  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Experience as an underwriter at a credit union, monoline lender, or similar institutional environment is an asset
  • Experience in A lending; experience in B lending or commercial lending is an asset
  • Ability to analyze residential mortgage applications and supporting documentation
  • Strong credit judgment
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks
  • Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies
  • Ability to effectively manage a pipeline in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to coach others and collaborate with various departments
  • Satisfactory background, criminal record, and reference checks
