About the role

Responsibilities

  • Promotion and outreach
  • Provide reception and front-desk support, primarily online; return and follow up on calls and emails; provide in-person reception as required
  • Organize outreach and promotional activities (relevant internal and external presentations, a digital newsletter published three times a year, promotions distributed through various media: print, digital, social media, etc.)
  • Promote and encourage active participation of employers and participants in awareness sessions and training aimed at creating an inclusive and accessible workplace (people with disabilities, mental health or addiction issues, autism spectrum disorder; members of visible minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, etc.)
  • Participate in community events and relevant committees to further raise awareness in communities and strengthen their capacity to support employers and people with disabilities
  • Participate in community events (job fairs, festivals, mall kiosks, chamber of commerce activities, etc.) to promote available programs and services
  • Work directly with college staff in employment, student services and the 50-30 Challenge initiative to ensure a coordinated approach to employer-related activities (quarterly meetings, information sessions, etc.)
  • Host groups at employment services sites; travel within the assigned community as required by the position
  • Meet prescribed targets and milestones and represent programs and services within the scope of responsibility to encourage employer participation
  • Recruit, develop and maintain employer contact lists; engage employers through on-site and virtual visits, email or phone to present specialized supports aimed at increasing hiring of an inclusive workforce
  • Develop a bilingual resource kit (printed and digital) for employers and participants to support outreach and dissemination efforts
  • Perform data entry; prepare monthly or other service-related reports as requested by supervisory staff; perform any other related duties as deemed appropriate by supervisory staff.

Requirements

  • Two-year postsecondary diploma or equivalent in Human Resources Management, Business, Project or Event Management, or a related field
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and support for EDI initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; tactful, diplomatic and discreet
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English (bilingual)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Access, Outlook) and the Internet
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and access to transportation
  • Ability to travel
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience designing, adapting and delivering workshops or information sessions for employers
  • Strong organizational and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of the sector and labour market trends
  • Experience in marketing, public relations, communications or sales
  • Experience that has provided a strong knowledge of community services
