About the role
- Staff Data Engineer leading design and optimization of data infrastructure at Cority. Collaborating to enable data-driven decision-making and mentoring engineering teams in scalable data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of the data infrastructure and analytics platforms
- Architect scalable data solutions
- Mentor engineering teams
- Drive strategic decisions around the data technology stack
- Lead the end-to-end data architecture
- Design and implement data pipelines, warehouses, and lakes that handle petabyte-scale datasets
- Collaborate with product teams to enable data-driven decision-making
- Establish best practices for data quality, governance, and security
- Mentor senior engineers and conduct technical reviews
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies
- Optimize performance and cost efficiency
- Ensure data infrastructure scales with business growth.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years specifically in data engineering roles
- At least 2 years in a staff or principal capacity
- Proven experience architecting and operating production data systems at scale
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, database internals, and data modeling
- Demonstrable experience making significant architectural contributions to a large-scale data platform
- Strong programming skills in Python, C#, or Java
- Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
- Excellent communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Track record of leading technical initiatives from conception through delivery.
