Trencher Operator Trainee operating and maintaining trencher equipment aboard DEME’s offshore cable-laying vessels. Developing toward independent operation through structured training.
Responsibilities
Ensure operation is performed with the highest efficiency possible in accordance with equipment capabilities, task plans, procedures and applicable requirements
Follow the Trencher Operator’s and Shift Supervisor’s instructions
Assist the Trencher Operator in mobilization, demobilization and project preparations
Operate the trencher according to manufacturers’ manuals and instructions
Ensure planned maintenance is completed and recorded with the Shift Supervisor
Complete basic equipment repairs and replacements with the Shift Supervisor
Complete pre-checks before operations
Ensure equipment is utilized in line with applicable procedures
Maintain daily maintenance, fault and improvement logs
Inform the Shift Supervisor when equipment or processes are not functioning as required
Actively support DEME QHSE Policies and values
Ensure compliance with the Project HSE Plan
Execute operations safely and in a technically sound way
Participate in HIRA meetings
Maintain safe working practices and a high level of safety awareness
Requirements
You followed a technical education about Mechanics or Electronics (Bachelor or MBO 3-4 level)
You have knowledge about Electricity
By preference, you have some work experience in the maritime/offshore field
You are communicative and problem solving
You have a hands-on and no nonsense mentality
You speak and write English fluently
You have no problem with being away from home for 5 weeks
